Master Beekeeper Joe Zgurzynski raises Northern selected queen honey bees at Country Barn Farm in O'Hara Township, in Western Pennsylvania. These are beautiful, laying queens from our best over-wintered stock that is inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
The Country Barn queen bee genetics started with a blend of Carniolan and Italian honey bees selected for longevity, mild temperament, mite resistance, disease resistance and honey production at Northern latitudes. Our hives are kept in Western Pennsylvania year-round to ensure the bees are adapted to our northern climate.
At this point in our breeding program we have developed our own genetic blend of queen honey bee traits that have received great reviews from beekeepers across the United States. These queen bees are recommended for experienced beekeepers who want to add superior genetics to their existing apiary.
Country Barn Farm only sells marked and mated queens that are laying a quality brood pattern. We mark all of the queens we sell at no additional charge.
A small number of overwintered queens will be available in April 2023 for $50 each.
More 2023 queen bees will be available from May through September for $40 each.
